Lanzarote to Los Lobos

From most resorts in Lanzarote you can see over to Los Lobos an uninhabited island between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. This tiny island is incredible to explore with stunning beaches and walking routes it has something for everyone.

To get to Los Lobos from Lanzarote you will need to take 2 boats unless you want to go directly with Biosfera jet to Lobos and have more of a Los Lobos guided excursion. If you are more the type of person that does things at their leisure then the two ferry options from Lanzarote to Los Lobos are for you.

Ferry Lanzarote to Los Lobos 

You will get the fast Lineas Romero ferry from Playa Blanca to Corralejo, you can go directly to the Playa Blanca harbour for the 9:30 ferry to Fuerteventura or there is an option for a pick up from all resorts including Puerto Del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Arrecife on set days. 

Bus pick up and ferry to Los Lobos

On set days (when you select with pick up) you will get a free bus service that will collect from or close to you accomodation and take you down to the harbour of Playa Blanca, this is ideal for those staying in Costa  Teguise, Puerto Del Carmen and Arrecife. You be picked up between 8am and 9am, you will get the 9:30 fast ferry to Corralejo and then the taxi boat return to Lobos. You must be back in Corralejo for the 17:30 ferry back and in Lanzarote a bus will be waiting for you to take you back to your accommodation.

There are two timetables to consider. If you are getting the bus pick up in Lanzarote for the ferry you will depart on the 9:30am ferry to Fuerteventura and back on the 17:30pm Ferry where the bus will take you back to your accomodation.

We recommend this as a plan for visiting lobos with or without pick up. If you are going direct then you can plan your day for your own flaxibility.

Where is Los Lobos and why is it so special?

The Island of Lobos is a tiny island between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Known as the island of the wolves because it was once home to many seals that the locals refered to as wolves.

Los Lobos is around 6 kilometers and around 2 kilometers from the coast of Fuerteventura and about 8 kilometres from Lanzarote.

There are only 400 people a day allowed on Lobos so booking is essential to assure you can get there on the day you want to go.

What can you do in Los Lobos from Lanzarote?

When you arrive in Los Lobos you will see just how unspoilt this place is, there is one bar and cafe serving refreshments and food, there are toilet facilities on the island and not a lot more. The beaches are some of the best in the world and you will take one route to a stunning cove and the other route to a trek where you can walk along the coast and even up the mountain for incredible views or Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.

Things to do on Los Lobos Island

When you arrive on the Los Lobos island one way will take you to a stunning cove with the islands only buildings and here you can relax and take in the sights and sounds of this unspoilt island. You can enjoy refreshments in the only bar on Los Lobos and just relax for the time you have.

If you feel more energetic you can walk further towards the volcanic mountain and trek around the island of Los Lobos.

If you head along Playa de la Concha de Lobos. Which is shapped like a hlaf moon and is almost like a circle, here you will not feel like you are swimming in the sea but in a giant lake. Fuerteventura is popular for surfing and Los Lobos is no different. On the west coast you will see huge waves and one that is the longest. This is know as la ola derecha de Lobos. It measures 300-500 metres long.

If you walk further along the beach of Los Lobos you will eventually reach the Los Lobos lighthouse called Punta Martino. This walk will take a good couple of hours so allow yourself time but you will pass lovely coves and see amazing sights.
